Kicking off the FIFA World Cup on 10 June 2010 at 8:00 p.m. at the newly-renovated Orlando Stadium in Soweto township, this historic three-hour live concert event will showcase the music, sport and visual pageantry of South Africa.
The event will feature amazing live performances from
Alicia Keys, Amadou & Mariam, Angelique Kidjo, Black Eyed Peas, BLK JKS, John Legend, Juanes, Shakira, The Parlotones, Tinariwen, Hugh Masekela, Soweto Gospel Choir, Mzanzi Youth Choir, Freshly Ground, K’naan, Vieux Farka Touré, Vusi Mahlasela and Lira will be broadcast to networks around the world for what is expected to be the greatest entertainment event to date on the African continent.
All net proceeds will benefit “20 Centres for 2010”, the Official Campaign of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™.
To get you warmed up for this once in a lifetime concert, you’ll get to be a part of the pre-concert from 4pm to 8pm. The line-up for the pre-concert, which is not part of the live international broadcast, includes Goldfish, Steadyrock, 340 ML, Tumi, Kwani Experience and Loyiso.
